John 1:5 NIV “The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it”
The Poets Corner
I remember when we first encountered
You told me you were dark
You wore your tattered past as a badge of honor
And hid your tears behind the shades of detachment
In the mirror you seen darkness
It fostered a safe haven for your pain
But this created chains instead of keeping you sane You repeated you were darkness
Assuring yourself this was the place to be
Like darkness gave u clarity
But it was keeping you from being free
of guilt and negativity
You proclaimed you were darkness
But when I looked at you I seen a gleam
A glimmer covered by clouds of doubt
Yearning to just get out
Then that evening, I heard your soul screaming
Screaming to be free
Your soul was battling
Battling the demons of the dark
So I reached out my hand and touched your heart
Then I Spoke
I spoke over your life using
The Power of my light
That cut deeper than a knife
Ordering the shackles of torment to break
Releasing the joy they tried to take
Covering you with JESUS name
You felt the world shake
I remember you told me there’s no light without darkness
But true as day ends before the night
Darkness cannot defeat the light
Immerse that light
